You have all heard that saying, don’t put all your eggs in one basket, because that great plan may not work out. Lucky for me, I have never put all of my eggs in one basket and thought it was important to have a plan B, C, and D, because you gotta be ready for what may happen if Plan A doesn’t go as planned. Well I don’t know about you, but I have had a front row seat to my initial plan failing and the subsequent plans thereafter not being all that successful either. Sooo what I’ve decided to do was surrendered to God. I’m no longer in charge of my life or the plan(s). I realize that the one who created me and knows me better than I know myself will do a much better job leading me and guiding me than I will ever be able to do on my own.
I think about Andrew, Peter, James, and John who were fishermen. Their job was to go out and catch fish. Simple enough, that is what they did. That was their plan. But there was a different plan on the horizon, Jesus would show them how to cast their nets, to be fishers of men in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and all nations according to Matthew 28:18-20. Let’s look at Matthew 4:18-22 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them. And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.
They would cast their nets, but God would do the catching, John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted it up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. God will enlighten the mind of his people, drawing all men with the truth of his word and the Holy Spirit, learning and hearing the word of God, causing an urge to yield to the will of God and therefore becoming willing servants- followers of Christ Jesus and God getting all the glory.
God has the plan for my life and he doesn’t need my help. God never fails, He knows ALL! He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He never sleeps or slumbers. His word never comes back void. He is the great I AM. And the list goes on and on about the goodness and righteousness of God. He has been providing for me all these years and has delivered me out of the hand of my enemies and delivered me out of the stuff I have caused doing it my way. With that being said, I will take God’s plan over mine every time. Just like Andrew, Peter, James and John, I dropped what I set out to do and follow God. God doesn’t need a bunch of plans. He doesn’t need to start from scratch or hold a do over, it is done and done in his timing.
God is intentional all we have to do is listen and obey. Draw closer to him and acknowledge him. He said I will supply all of your needs according to his riches in glory. There you have it, I don’t need a plan of my own, what I need is to understand what God has for me is enough and that all that other stuff is not important. His plan is not to give into my every want, but to meet my spiritual needs.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV. And this definitely is a plan I can and will accept.
God is a way maker and deliverer…. HALLELUJAH!! He is faithful always. He can make your enemies your footstool. He can hide you from your enemies, Psalm 27:5 For in time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. If God can hide you, he can surely bring you out of whatever you may be going through. Get ready for your Exodus, he will bring you out, so hold on to his word and believe it will all work out for your good. Amen.
We can never forget how God parted the Red Sea, freeing Israel from their many years of Egyptian bondage. Exodus 14:21-22 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
Israel was God’s chosen people, 1Kings 8:53 For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD. Here is another one, 2Samuel 7:24, For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, Lord, art become their God. And let me give you one more concerning Israel as God’s chosen people, look at Psalm 135:4 For the Lord hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.
But there is good news, we are also God’s chosen people!! Ephesians 1:3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestined us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
You are loved and were chosen, and very precious to God, he cares about every aspect of your life. Ephesians 2:9-10 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not his people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Yes, you may be going through some heavy stuff that is too much for you to handle, but not too much for God. Even in your most dire circumstances you are coming out of it. It might not look like it right now, but he is an on-time God. Stop thinking ohhh this is really bad. Stop thinking will he do it? Think on the good things of the Lord. Amen. The word says in Exodus 14:14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
Your Exodus is coming!! You are going to be delivered from whatever you may be going through. He didn’t forget to bring Israel out time and time again and he will not forget about you. Get ready for your Exodus and believe that you’re coming out on the other side victorious!
It may not be the longest or shortest book in the Bible, but the book of Jude carries some weight with reminders of the importance to stand firm in our faith, beware of false teachers, and ending with praise for the Almighty God. Jude didn’t hold back, he hit hard telling believers to learn and know correct doctrine (2Tim 2:15.) Defend and fight for truth, (Titus 2:1 and Titus 1:9) not compromising the truth of the word of God by twisting it to sooth our sinful nature. Ephesians 4:21, If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus.
Jude makes very good points: the first being the rescues and punishments and false teachers. God delivered Israel out of Egypt, (Exodus 12:51) And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the Lord did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies, but destroyed those who did not remain faithful as told in (Numbers 14:26-35.) Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed for sexual immorality, but God rescued Lot. In (2Peter 2:6-9) And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly; And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgement to be punished.
Also, he shares of false teachers who have led people to believe that because of forgiveness you can live any way you want undermining the teachings of Jesus Christ. Examples of this are Cain murdered his brother Abel out of jealousy (Genesis 4:1-16), Balaam prophesied out of greed (Numbers 22-24), and Korah rebelled against God’s appointed leaders (Numbers 16:1-35.) Enoch (mentioned in Genesis 5:21-24) prophesied about ungodly acts in Jude verse 14-16, which is also found in the Book of Enoch.
Then Jude goes on to explain that believers should build up their faith through prayer. Keep close to Christ who will keep you from stumbling. And as you help others, be careful not to compromise your belief and the foundation of your faith, hate the sin, but witness to others. And give all glory to God who keeps us from falling. Jude is great book that reflects on consequences and deliverance, our need for prayer, to be a servant and praise God always.
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2Tim 1:7
God makes it plain. He did not give us the spirit of fear. So, where does fear come from? The enemy and your own thoughts running crazy. Fear stops us from moving forward and hearing what the Lord is saying to you. Ask yourself why are you accepting something God did not present to you? Do not claim fear but rebuke it. Fear makes excuses. Fear stops you from starting that business. Fear keeps you doubting and asking am I good enough? Fear will keep you in a state of mental bondage. Fear keeps you from trusting God. God didn’t give you the spirit of fear, remove the fear that is holding you back. Declare and decree that fear will no longer have a stronghold over your life.
I love this scripture because God didn’t leave us guessing well if he didn’t give us fear what did he give us? God said of power, and of love and of a sound mind. Power – Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we can ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. And that power is the Holy Spirit. Love – 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. In Mark 12:30-31 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Sound mind – Phil 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
By doing all things through the power of the Holy Spirit you are walking by faith, showing love, and at peace in your mind, leaving no room for fear. The opposite of FEAR is FAITH. Faith means YES YOU CAN do ALL things through Christ.
The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalm 121:8 NIV
If you truly believe with all your heart that God is for you, then why doubt that he is watching over you and will come through for you? Some things we ask God for may not be the right time to receive it. The delay could be that God has something better for you on the horizon. How many times have you thanked God for not allowing things you wanted to come to pass? For example, you wanted that new car in 2017 but now in 2019 you are glad you didn’t get that new car because your job downsized or your spouse lost their job and the income is not there to support the payment. God is watching over you he sees the beginning and the end. Trust in the creator and trust God’s plan he knows you better than you know yourself. He said in his word, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee…Jeremiah 1:5. And Matthew 10:30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
If you are still having self-doubt that God has your back, Matthew 6:25-26 should put you at ease. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
God is always with you when you are coming and going. Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. As I’m writing this, I’m feeling victorious and my spirt is over joyed in the fact that God is with me every day and everywhere I go, HALLELUJAH!! Keep the faith, God was with you last year and the years before that. He brought you over the hurdles in your life thus far, big and small. He has fought your battles and has kept you yesterday and he will keep you today. God never sleeps or slumbers, so forget worrying and fear not because God is watching over you forevermore.
And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. Genesis 15:6
God told Abram not to fear. I’m going to protect you and reward you. But Abram wondered what good is the blessings when he didn’t have an heir. God reassures him that an heir shall come forth out of thine own bowels and that his descendants will be like the stars too many to count. God already knows what we don’t have and he also knows what we are in need of.
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us Ephesians 3:20. And that scripture is forever so true, God tells Abram, For me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee, Genesis 17:4, 6. He is letting Abram know I’m going to do more than give you an heir.
God will always do what he said he is going to do. And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him, Genesis 17:19. But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year, Genesis 17:21. Four chapters later, For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac, Genesis 21:2-3.
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God: And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform, Romans 4:20-21.
We can trust in God’s promises because God keeps his word and Psalm 138:2 says for thou has magnified thy word above all thy name. God is pure, holy, all powerful, all knowing, good, and truth and therefore so is his Word.
Jeremiah 1:12 NIV The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.
