In All Things Give Thanks

Give Thanks

What comes to mind when you think of Thanksgiving? Is it the delicious spread of food? The day off from work? Is it spending time with family and friends? Maybe it’s all of the above. This is the one day I do believe everyone gives thanks, but I also believe that thanks should be given daily. We have something in our life every day to be thankful for and I can give you one right now – breathing.
We don’t have to wait until the fourth Thursday of November each year to count our blessings and recite our thankfulness at the dinner table, we can let God know every day that we are thankful. Don’t take anything for granted, but be humble and appreciate what the Lord has done and is doing. Even as you ponder on the difficult times – look, you are still standing and it hasn’t taken you out. When things are not looking good still show thankfulness and gratitude. Celebrate thanksgiving continuously and in ALL things give thanks, because God is due this as it reads in Psalm 100:4, Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. Therefore, whatever you may be experiencing thank God for being in it with you. Thank God for giving you strength to endure. Thank God for every assignment with your name on it. Hallelujah!!
We can’t forget to be thankful for relationships either. Being thankful for our relationship with our Heavenly Father, thank you Lord. Thankful for the ability to love unconditionally and to forgive sincerely. Thankful for time spent with love ones. Thankful for having someone who listens, laughs, and cries with you. Thankful for those who have made a difference in your life, whether it was positive or a lesson learned the hard way from others actions, and even in that it goes back to God helping you through it, thank him.
Thankful for humanity, for those who have given their time and resources to not only me and you, but to others too. Paul talks about using our gifts and giving generously to help others and in turn they will praise God, they will be blessed and so will you. This is what it says in 2 Cor 9:7-11, Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever. Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness. Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
Now think on the simple things like the weather, we love the warm and sunny days, but when it rains, snows and sleets, we get a little sad and bent out of shape because it is lasting too long. But having those days were the weather doesn’t quite meet our standards, helps us appreciate and give thanks for the warmer days that we do love so much. Also, let’s not forget the insects to the wildlife, we may not know what purpose every living creature holds, but God created them, read Genesis 1:20-25 and he said it was good, so give thanks for them too. Give thanks to God for he created us in his image, Genesis 1:27. Thank God for peace and joy! As you can see there are many things to be thankful for, if you would only take the time to relax and think about it for a few minutes.
So, for the day after Thanksgiving when you are eating leftovers remember this is also “another” day that the Lord has made let’s rejoice and be glad in it and give thanks. The Thanksgiving holiday is one day, but being thankful in everything, in actuality should be happening every day. 1 Thes. 5:8 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Be Blessed

ALWAYS REMEMBER THE SACRIFICE

JesusPaid It All brown

We make sacrifices every day with our time, energy, and money sometimes for others. Putting ourselves on the back burner to make life easier or more special for someone else. Do we do it because down the road we might need to call in a favor? Do we make the sacrifice to be able to boast and brag about it to anyone who will listen? Do we sacrifice because somebody sacrificed for us at some previous point in our life? Are we doing it out of love?

Christ sacrificed his life for all of us because he loves all of us.

Reminders of the Sacrifice

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. John 10:11

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. (Matthew 20:28)

I thank him for that sacrifice by reading his word and being obedient to his word daily. I want to know what the word of God says about the goodness of Jesus and what he did for me and how to be more like him. Amen

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

This is love. This is the love God has for you and me, sacrificing his son Jesus.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)

The sacrifices that I have done thus far don’t compare to the one that sacrificed his life, so that through him I could be saved. Hallelujah to the lamb for I am saved, because of the ultimate sacrifice of his blood.

Jesus Paid It All. I will always remember the sacrifice.

Because Jesus Said So

The Great Commission 4Yes, I believe Jesus died and rose on the third day. In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. (Matthew 28:1, 5-6) And what happened after that cannot be taken lightly. Jesus gave us our assignment.

The Great Commission

To spread the good news of salvation for ALL. Jesus was given all authority. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. (Matthew 28:18) and then delegated that authority to his disciples. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:19-20

We must learn the ways of Christ to become his disciples, so that our teaching is not short of his teaching. Righteousness comes from the Holy Spirit that dwells within us and not just from the mouth.

In Acts 1:8 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.  As disciples, we are on a mission to bring others into the household of faith to begin their relationship with Christ.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (John 14:12)

May the Lord manifest himself in your life as you learn, grow, teach, and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

7 THINGS TO HELP KIDS BE LIKE CHRIST

Train Up A Child

Kids want to be loved and have fun. So simple right? It should be simple because kids don’t come into the world with the mentality to plan to do evil. These behaviors are taught by people they know or have some form of interaction with daily or periodically. Maybe over hearing conversations from unknown individuals in passing. You may think you have it under control by limiting the number of hours in front of the television and on social media or playing with friends and tech toys, but unfortunately that is not enough. You see, on the other side of that door is a life filled with bad influences and temptations and the things that are not of God. But it’s not too late to train up your kids in the way they should go and create a change in the atmosphere one child at a time.

Let’s get started!!

PARENT PREPARATION

Proverbs 3:5 KJV Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

1Cor 3:19 KJV For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

We need God’s wisdom and knowledge to help with our children and with all things.

Proverbs 2:6 KJV For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of the mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

Proverbs 8:11 KJV For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared.

2Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

The word of God has to be in you, a part of who you are… parents obeying and applying the word of God. You are the first example of Christ for your kids.

(Below is a list of books and scriptures, but seek the word of God with your kids and find the ones suitable for them to understand.)

7 THINGS TO HELP KIDS BE LIKE CHRIST

  1. Read the Bible with your kids – help children build strength and character.
  2. Love – Share with them that God is love. 1Cor.13:4, 1Cor. 16:14, and 1John4:19
  3. Pray – Teach them about talking to God and spending personal time with Him in prayer. Jeremiah 29:12
  4. Praise – Let God know you adore him and show your appreciation of who He is and all that He has done, is doing and will do. Psalm 135:1, Psalm 150:6, and Psalm 148:13
  5. Have Empathy – Teaching children to have empathy to put themselves in others shoes. Having compassion and understanding for others because you see things the way God sees them. Because someone is not like you or is less fortunate doesn’t make them not important in God’s eyes. So, try to understand what they may be going through by envisioning yourself in that situation. Col. 3:12 and 1Pet. 3:8
  6. Be Giving – Be ready to act, be a giver of time, money clothing, or food to help those in need. For example, do volunteer work in a food pantry. Prov. 11:25, Prov. 22:9, Acts 20:35, James 2:15-16, and Deut. 15:10
  7. Forgiveness – To understand that we all fall short and need forgiveness. If you want God to forgive you, you must be willing to forgive others. Ephesians 4:32 and Matthew 6:14

We want kids that go out in the world and in every situation before they act, they ask the question –

What Would Jesus Do?

We Need Spiritual Strength

Nothing will overtake me and whatever test and trials may come I will rise up, because I know where my strength comes from. Think about all that you have been through and how Christ gave you the strength to get through it every time. Give him thanks right now!! If he strengthened you then, I’m sure he will strengthen you today, tomorrow, and the days ahead. Believers don’t need to stress. Activate the Holy Spirit on the inside of you.

When you feel that you can’t make it stop and know Ephesians 3:20 KJV Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us….

You already have what it takes to be strong, you just have to read the word daily so you can apply the strength that God has already given you. Praise the Lord!!  Because an idle mind is were the devil gains power over us.

Therefore, when we are weak whether it is physically, mentally, or emotionally, meditate on his word.

How will you be strengthened? Ephesians 3:16 KJV That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man

What can we do with Christ’s strength? Phil 4:13 KJV I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Psalm 54:4 NIV Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.

Dear Father God I ask that you strengthen whoever may be reading this. Lord we cannot do anything without you and we thank you for the Holy Spirit that gives us strength when we are weak. For your strength God is made perfect in our weakness. We lay it all at your feet and thank you for being the God of grace and mercy and our strong tower in a time of weakness, trouble, or sorrow in Jesus precious name Amen.

The Fruit of the Spirit

Fruit of the Spirit 1

How do you see yourself? Is your character questionable? What would others say about you? More importantly what does God see in you? Are you demonstrating the character of Christ? I want God to see Christ in me and if God sees Christ in me then maybe just maybe others will see it and what an example I am to my circle of friends and others I may encounter throughout my life.

Let’s begin a ripple effect and show the attributes of Christ…the Fruit of the Spirit.

Gal. 5:22-23 KJV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such is no law.

Love – John 15:12 KJV This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Joy – John 15: 11 KJV These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. Jesus wants us to have his joy, because it endures through all circumstances. Our joy is based on how we feel at any given moment; however, the joy Jesus refers to is on the inside of you and nothing or no one can take that away from you. Know that his joy will sustain you in all you may go through. God is in control.

Peace – James 3:18 KJV And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. Think on the good things of God. That he will never leave you or forsake you. You and I can rest in his word because it is truth. That alone is peace.

Longsuffering – We can be patient because we have the Holy Spirit within us. We can endure and persevere. God is patient with us and if we have the same character traits as Jesus then we will be patient with others.

Gentleness – We should be gentle when dealing with others. A calmness of the spirit. Gentleness in your home with your family. Gentleness with those in need. Remember Jesus being gentle with the woman at the well John 4: 1-26 KJV. Also, with the woman caught in adultery John: 8:3-11 KJV

Goodness – Galatians 6: 10 KJV As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Faith – 2 Thess. 3:3 KJV But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. Be faithful to the one who died for our sins. Show your faithfulness through your obedience to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Meekness – Matthew 5:5 KJV Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Temperance – We must exhibit self-control so we will not fulfill the works of the flesh and Paul describes this in more detail in Galatians 5:19-21.

Now that you know the character traits of Christ!! Let the world see Christ in you!!
