God Did Not Give Us the Spirit of Fear

Fear

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2Tim 1:7

God makes it plain. He did not give us the spirit of fear. So, where does fear come from? The enemy and your own thoughts running crazy. Fear stops us from moving forward and hearing what the Lord is saying to you. Ask yourself why are you accepting something God did not present to you? Do not claim fear but rebuke it. Fear makes excuses. Fear stops you from starting that business. Fear keeps you doubting and asking am I good enough? Fear will keep you in a state of mental bondage. Fear keeps you from trusting God. God didn’t give you the spirit of fear, remove the fear that is holding you back. Declare and decree that fear will no longer have a stronghold over your life.

I love this scripture because God didn’t leave us guessing well if he didn’t give us fear what did he give us? God said of power, and of love and of a sound mind. Power – Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we can ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. And that power is the Holy Spirit. Love – 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. In Mark 12:30-31 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Sound mind – Phil 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

By doing all things through the power of the Holy Spirit you are walking by faith, showing love, and at peace in your mind, leaving no room for fear. The opposite of FEAR is FAITH. Faith means YES YOU CAN do ALL things through Christ.

Sealed With God’s Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit

Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent (John 6:28-29).John the Baptist tells us, Those who believe him discover that God is true. For he is sent by God. He speaks God’s words, for God’s spirit is upon him without measure or limit (John 3:33) Life Application Study Bible. Whoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God (1John 4:15).

God’s purpose is for us to recognize Jesus as the Son of God and to offer salvation to all. And because of our belief in Christ we are sealed with the Holy Spirit a guarantee of our inheritance and that we belong to God. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory (Ephesians 1:13-14). Who hath also sealed us, and given earnest of the Spirit in our hearts (2 Cor. 1:22).

Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. (1John 4:13)

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one to another. Be ye angry and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you (Ephesians 4:22-32)

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. (Psalm 51:10)

Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. (Psalm 25:4)

Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. (Psalm 143:10)

The Sprit of God dwells in you, it’s a seal that secures us as believers and gives us the authority to preach, teach, and proclaim and defend God’s word.

The Fruit of the Spirit

Fruit of the Spirit 1

How do you see yourself? Is your character questionable? What would others say about you? More importantly what does God see in you? Are you demonstrating the character of Christ? I want God to see Christ in me and if God sees Christ in me then maybe just maybe others will see it and what an example I am to my circle of friends and others I may encounter throughout my life.

Let’s begin a ripple effect and show the attributes of Christ…the Fruit of the Spirit.

Gal. 5:22-23 KJV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such is no law.

Love – John 15:12 KJV This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Joy – John 15: 11 KJV These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. Jesus wants us to have his joy, because it endures through all circumstances. Our joy is based on how we feel at any given moment; however, the joy Jesus refers to is on the inside of you and nothing or no one can take that away from you. Know that his joy will sustain you in all you may go through. God is in control.

Peace – James 3:18 KJV And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. Think on the good things of God. That he will never leave you or forsake you. You and I can rest in his word because it is truth. That alone is peace.

Longsuffering – We can be patient because we have the Holy Spirit within us. We can endure and persevere. God is patient with us and if we have the same character traits as Jesus then we will be patient with others.

Gentleness – We should be gentle when dealing with others. A calmness of the spirit. Gentleness in your home with your family. Gentleness with those in need. Remember Jesus being gentle with the woman at the well John 4: 1-26 KJV. Also, with the woman caught in adultery John: 8:3-11 KJV

Goodness – Galatians 6: 10 KJV As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Faith – 2 Thess. 3:3 KJV But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil. Be faithful to the one who died for our sins. Show your faithfulness through your obedience to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Meekness – Matthew 5:5 KJV Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Temperance – We must exhibit self-control so we will not fulfill the works of the flesh and Paul describes this in more detail in Galatians 5:19-21.

Now that you know the character traits of Christ!! Let the world see Christ in you!!
