And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. Genesis 15:6
God told Abram not to fear. I’m going to protect you and reward you. But Abram wondered what good is the blessings when he didn’t have an heir. God reassures him that an heir shall come forth out of thine own bowels and that his descendants will be like the stars too many to count. God already knows what we don’t have and he also knows what we are in need of.
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us Ephesians 3:20. And that scripture is forever so true, God tells Abram, For me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee, Genesis 17:4, 6. He is letting Abram know I’m going to do more than give you an heir.
God will always do what he said he is going to do. And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him, Genesis 17:19. But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year, Genesis 17:21. Four chapters later, For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac, Genesis 21:2-3.
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God: And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform, Romans 4:20-21.
We can trust in God’s promises because God keeps his word and Psalm 138:2 says for thou has magnified thy word above all thy name. God is pure, holy, all powerful, all knowing, good, and truth and therefore so is his Word.
Jeremiah 1:12 NIV The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.
Wives who are trying to be there for their husbands and find it to be hard to do so, it might be because you think you know what’s best. No, no, no, we got to do things decent and in order. And the Lord God said, It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him Genesis 2:18. The word also tells us in 1Cor. 11:3, But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
I can imagine if God told our husband to build an ark, like he told Noah, we as women would have our own ideas about what size it should be, when and where it should be built, what size the windows should be (can we hang curtains) and who and what should go in the ark. Yes, as women feel the need to make sure our voices are heard. Look how God described Noah in Genesis 6:8-9 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. I would say that Noah was highly favored in the sight of God and I’m sure his wife was a woman of faith. So, for the task that was before Noah he would need his help meet more than ever before. Maybe Noah’s wife understood the magnitude of the assignment given by God to her husband and she did what she needed to do so he could accomplish it.
Wives when you know your husband is about God’s business, trust your husband, give him space, encourage him and respect him. Be proud of your husband that he is being obedient to God just as Noah was during his time as told in Genesis 6:22 and 7:1, 5. God told Noah in Genesis 6:18 he will make a covenant with him, But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee. And because of Noah’s obedience in Genesis 9: 9-17 he fulfilled that covenant, And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you and with your seed after you; And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth. And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud: And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have establishes between me and all flesh that is upon the earth. Always remember when it is all finished, it all works out for your good. Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them, who are the called according to his purpose.
For me personally, I will be supportive of my God-fearing husband and trust in the God who blessed me with this wonderful man to begin with.
Dear Heavenly Father I pray that you strengthen our marriages and for each spouse to know their place in the marriage. Lord may each spouse seek a personal relationship with you so they may learn and grow as they come together as one and on one accord. God teach us your ways so that as wives we are more understanding of the responsibilities of the husband and be the help meet that you have called us to be. May our speech always be acceptable to you Lord that we will know what we should say and the right time to say it, when we need to just listen and also recognize those times when silence can be helpful too. God thank you for our spouse and may we love them the way you love us in the precious name of Jesus Amen.
I think about my destination to heaven the way others think about their next vacation destination. What path do I need to take? Will the roads I travel be clear so I can see what I need to see. The Bible has all the answers. The Bible is my GPS to keep me on the right path.
Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths. (Psalm 25:4 KJV)
With the word of God, I always want him to order my steps, but what’s just as important is I must obey where he tells me to go, even if I don’t understand it. I must trust Him and have faith.
There may be trials and tribulations similar to road construction we want to get around it quickly by taking shortcuts. The choice is yours, however remember what the word says I’m with you always, now that’s encouragement for your soul and you can make it through whatever may come your way. God may not take you around the dilemmas, issues, or pain but he is with us as we go through it.
If we think God’s path will not work, doubting his word and going off on our own we can probably expect a path of destruction that leads to sin. Let’s not be like the Israelites wondering in the wilderness and complaining. Listen to God and obey.
I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. (Psalms 4:11 KJV)
We can try to delay taking the path that God has laid out for us, but the will of God will come to pass whether we decide to take the long way or a shortcut. I prefer to concentrate on the righteous way.
My Bible is the best GPS and it is always right, I just need to follow the directions in it.
Let me do a self-check to see if I’m following God’s directions exactly as spoken in the word of God:
I’m saved – Romans 10:9
My body is a temple and bought with a price – 1Cor.19-20
Exhibiting the Fruit of the Spirit – Galatians 5:22-23
Be ye Holy for I am holy – 1Peter 1:16
Walk by faith and not by sight – 2 Cor 5:7
Worship God in Spirit and in truth – John 4:24
His spirit dwells in me – 1 John 4:13
I’m believe I’m on the right path. And I will not give up. I’m going to trust in the creator of my path.
The Bible is our GPS to stay the course and follow the path. When we go on vacation, we are excited about getting to our destination whether it be a quick weekend getaway or the luxury of one or two weeks, once we get there, we are excited that we arrived and if someone is waiting on us, they are excited too. This is what I envision, if I stay on the path reading the word of God and applying it to my life one day I will get to heaven and rejoice and God will say Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant Come On In.
How many times have you been asked to go somewhere and then you started asking questions before you decided you would go? Well, Rebekah did go and so did Isaiah. They both said in their own way, I will go and said it without hesitation, which is absolutely remarkable.
Rebekah (Genesis 24:58) KJV And they called Rebekah and said unto her, wilt thou go with this man? And she said, I will go.
A little background on the story, Abraham sent his servant to find a wife for his son Isaac and God lead the servant to Rebekah and with the family’s blessing she went with the servant. She didn’t appear to fear rejection or fear the unknown, she trusted God with her present situation and future.
Isaiah (Isaiah 6:8) KJV Also, I heard the voice of the Lord saying, whom shall I send and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Isaiah was willing to face danger and opposition. Rejection was on the horizon. He was going to speak the words of the Lord to a sinful Judah, a message of judgement and the need for the people of Judah to repent.
In both scriptures they did not think about themselves, it was about trusting God and obedience. Are you willing to go where God tells you to go? Do you trust God in all things or do you pick and choose which situations to trust God with?
As believers we have to stand on the Word of God and know God is with us. Step out on faith, step out of your comfort zone and know that he is God. If God tells you to go know that he has prepared the way. Trust God!!
